Supreme Court Rules States Cannot Remove Trump From Ballot For Insurrection?

Supreme Court

The Supreme Court ruled Monday that states will not lose the rights that former President Donald Trump fought for in Jan. 6, 2021, the attack on the US Capitol. In a dissenting opinion, most justices held that Section 3 of the 14th Congress benefited only the antebellum Congress, not the United States.

Nine judges agreed that Colorado could not deport Trump. But four justices — Justice Amy Coney Barrett and Justice Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Katanzi Brown Jackson — said their colleagues should stay there and not rule again. The decision comes a day before Super Tuesday, when primaries will be held in 16 states and one territory. Trump now has a significant lead in the race for the Republican nomination.

US Asks Supreme Court To stop Texas Immigration Law?

On Monday, the Biden administration asked the Supreme Court to strike down. Texas law that allows state officials to deport immigrants at will. The latest filing in a series of legal battles over Texas immigration policy suggests that a lower court ruling last week could overturn the state’s immigration removal law, known as SB. 4, goes into effect next week.

If judges don’t intervene, illegal crossings from Mexico to Texas will become a state crime. Texas courts will return migrants even if they seek asylum, the Justice Department said. Mr. Biden said previous Supreme Court decisions held that “the right to admit. The remove citizens is a primary function of state governments. When Congress passes legislation to address these issues, state law prevails.”

On Monday, the Supreme Court ordered the suspension of the administration of the country’s law. This decision will remain in effect until next Wednesday after hearing the government’s appeal. Signed by the Governor of Texas. The Biden administration is challenging the law in federal court, which was signed by Greg Abbott in December. Last week, Judge David Allen Ezra of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas issued a temporary restraining order against enforcement of the Texas law in an order declaring the law unconstitutional. Ezra wrote that SB 4 threatens the concept that immigration should be controlled by a single vote in America.
