Instagram

Is Facebook not available? Is Instagram not accessible?

Tuesday morning, users of Meta in the United States reported having trouble logging into their Facebook, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, and Threads accounts. At approximately 10:30 a.m. ET, DownDetector.com reported over 500,000 outages. Users complained about their credentials not being recognized or about being logged out of their accounts without having the ability to get back in. Problems with the apps and desktop websites are being reported, such as the inability to utilize two-factor authentication or reset passwords. Facebook and Instagram’s parent company, Meta, has not stated what might be causing the problem or when services might return. Director of Meta’s communication Andrew Stones recognized the issues that exist with X, the original name of Twitter, and stated that the company is “working on this now.”

On X, the hashtags #FacebookDown and #InstagramDown started trending.

Another X user posted on Twitter, “I believed his Instagram and Facebook accounts had been attacked for a second.” Yet another commented, “It’s great that I can always depend on Twitter to verify that Meta is down, everyone has been locked out of Facebook, and Instagram isn’t functioning.” About an hour later, several users of Facebook and Instagram said they could still access their accounts. At 11:30 a.m., less than 100,000 outages were recorded, according to Down Detector. In April 2024, Meta will release a significant update that will eliminate the Facebook News tab for users in the United States and Australia. This announcement was made earlier this year. Although Meta claimed the update wouldn’t impact any of its other goods or services. It’s unclear if the impending change could result in any problems.

This is a continuing work to better match the products and services that consumers value most with our investments. We must concentrate our efforts as a company on providing short-form video and other content. That users have said they would like to see more of on the platform, Meta stated in February. In Australia and the United States, the number of Facebook News users. Fell by more than 80% in the previous year. People use Facebook, as we all know, to connect with others, and find new opportunities. Passions, and interests, not to read news articles or watch political videos. For the great majority of users, news only constitutes a minor portion of Facebook, accounting for less than 3% of. What they see in their feed globally, as we previously detailed in 2023.
